When I got an email through asking me if I would like to sample some of the food at the Three Monkeys on Hollywood Road, of course I said yes! I've been before as a place to grab some yum cocktails and chill out during the weekend - but I had never eaten there - so I was pretty excited!
The menu was very extensive! I picked a few items to try and left the rest to the capable hands of the staff.
Mixed Vegetable Plate and Edamame
Vegetable sticks with brown and white miso dip and edamame beans
Grilled mirin marinated pufferfish jerky with kewpie mayo. One of the yummiest things I tried - which was actually a real surprise, was the Fugu - I loved the texture and the saltiness, it sort of turned powdered when you chewed it. I loved it!
Jalapeno and chill infused tequila, kaffir leaves, agave syrup and lime juice. Danger! You might want more than one..
I have no idea what this one is called
But it had smoked whiskey and I don't like whiskey - but I loved this drink!
Just enjoying the sunshine and cocktails in between dishes!
Wafu Haru Maki
Crunchy vegetables rolled in beef with signature reduction dipping sauce. A beef maki roll! Who could say no to that?! It was very yummy indeed!
Grilled giant tiger prawn with ebiko mayo. One of the yummiest dishes I tried. The prawn was really meaty and the mayonnaise was sweet which worked perfectly with the prawn!
Grilled tofu with bonito flakes. It's quite hard to do tasty tofu which is why I asked to try this dish. I wasn't disappointed!
Cocktail tomatoes with smoked bacon
These pork belly wraps were one of the best items I sampled. The flavour of garlic was delicate
Grilled fresh scallop, sweet sesame soy glaze crispy nori wrap.
A Giesha's Lips and an Umeshu Sour
The Giesha's Lips was a very, very delicious cocktail! You could really taste the red bell pepper.
Chicken with soy - tender and cooked just right
Foie Gras Tofu Toast
Pan seared foie gras on agedashi tofu with a signature reduction. This was a real treat - the foie gras was melt in your mouth buttery and the tofu 'toast' was actually a really great compliment to the rich foie gras.
I'm not on the menu! x
