If you fancy a long beautiful beach and some gorgeous veiws, I guess you can head over to Cheung Sha beach in Mui Wo on Lantau Island.
If you're living on the Island or in Kowloon, I know it seems like it's really far... But honestly, if you get the fast ferry, you can be at the beach from the Central Pier in 45 - yes - forty five minutes! I had a cheeky look on Instagram before we left to check out what I was in for. The results were pretty good!
When you get off of the boat, you are greeted with Lantau Islands huge mountain peak. Its so high, it's almost twice the height of the ICC - or 3 times as tall as the Shard in London!
Getting a little closer..
When you arrive at the beach, you are greeted with this view. It's quite unlike any other beach I've seen in Hong Kong! Reminds me of those sandy British beaches.
We made a right, and headed towards the more secluded part of the beach (where we meeting some others) and then we came across this beautiful fresh water stream, but hang on a minute - who's this? A water buffalo?!
When we crossed over some rocks (there was a very easy way around) we found that the beach beyond was secluded and beautiful.. Talk about beauty and the beach!
I have to say, one of the most beautiful things about this entire beach was the raw beauty of it. There were several fresh water steams that came gushing down from the peak of Lantau, and they made the setting really, really gorgeous. I've always loved water - and seeing this stream hit the sea... Wow - it really made the trip worth it.
So worth the trip! I would highly recommend Cheung Sha beach to anyone in Hong Kong - I would even recommend if you are here visiting for a week! It's such a pretty place and it's kind of amazing to see another side of Hong Kong.
What do you think? Worth the trip?
